Guidelines for User Account Data deletion

User Account Deletion

Starting Jun 30, 2022 Apple has made it mandatory for apps submitted to the App Store to have a feature to enable deletion of account information- this includes removal of the account along with any data associated with the account that the developer isn’t legally required to maintain. Please note that Apps without a feature to delete accounts are likely to be rejected by the app store. The iOS guidelines to delete accounts can be found . In order to allow your users to delete their account data, please follow the mentioned steps:

1. Add a delete user Account profile option in your platform.

2. When the user selects the delete profile option, display an option to contact your customer support for deletion of user data.

3. Display the following message to the user once they have submitted a deletion request:

“We have received your request for account deletion. The deletion process can take upto 2 business days. You will receive a confirmation email at <user’s email> once the request has been processed.”

4. Once a delete account request is received, SMP is expected to delete the complete account record and any associated personal data from its database. Please note that deactivating or disabling accounts will not fulfill Apple’s requirement.

5. In addition, once the SMP has received the delete account request from the user, please raise a ticket with Inyo Support team (help@inyoglobal.com) with the following details:

a. Subject: Request for Account Deletion

b. Sender ID

c. Sender Email

d. Sender Name

e. Reason for Deletion

6. Once our support team has completed the delete request and provided you with the confirmation, please send out an email to the user stating that their account deletion request has been completed.

7. A user who had previously requested for deletion of their account may approach you for creating a new account. In such cases, the user shall follow the stand sign-up process as it would for new users. You may also choose to prevent a user with a deleted account from signing up again. Recommended message to be displayed in such scenario is:

"Unable to create an account. Please contact customer support.”
